Positive Aspects

Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD can be upsetting at times. Other people can misunderstand you, and treat you disrespectfully, and you can end up feeling bad about yourself.

The trick is to remember that some of the negative things about ADHD can have a positive side too. For example:

  • I'm hyperactive
  • I have lots of energy
  • I'm impulsive
  • I react quickly
  • I don't plan ahead
  • I can improvise in a difficult situation
  • I'm easily distracted
  • I notice everything in the environment
  • I talk too much
  • I'm sociable and a good communicator
  • I never finish anything
  • I'm good at starting new projects
  • I'm argumentative
  • I'm independent and know my own mind
  • I can waste time on computer games
  • I can concentrate deeply if motivated
  • I'm a daydreamer
  • I have lots of creative ideas

Being diagnosed with ADHD is half the battle. People with ADHD can live full lives just the same as people without ADHD.
